Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting
1. Does Veenix Font Tools work on a PC?
Sorry, Veenix Font Tools is a Macintosh-only product.
2. Help, I can't launch the demo.
If you can't launch the demo, then the zip file was corrupted during the download process. Please download the Stuffit .sit file by clicking on the following: Veenix Font Tools Demo.
If you don't have Stuffit Expander, you can downlaod a free copy here: Stuffit Expander.
3. Can Font Tools print inactive fonts or do I have to activate them first?
You do not have to activate fonts to view or print them.
4. Do fonts activated in Font Tools stay active on restart?
Yes, but if you prefer, you can also choose to activate fonts temporarily. You can set this option under the "Preferences" menu.
5. Does Font Tools make or keep a seperate copy of my fonts somewhere?
No, Veenix Font Tools never moves or copies your fonts, unless you explicitly choose to export fonts or create a backup library of your fonts. In the latter case, Font Tools makes a copy of exported or backed-up fonts and copies them to your user-defined destination. Your original fonts are left untouched.
6. Why do some fonts in the font list have a red font-type icon?
Fonts listed in the Visual Font Database window with a red font-type icon are PostScript fonts that have some missing bitmap information in their screen font file, also known as a bitmap file. Such fonts may be able to be imaged, but you should use them with caution.
7. Do you have a version for OS 10.2 or 10.3?
We have a very similar product for OS 10.2/10.3 called Veenix Design & Type Tools. It offers many of the same font features as Font Tools, although not quite as extensive for printing fonts and it does not have the Document Font Tools feature.
